“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
I have been reading through the book of Matthew and this scripture, Matthew 6:25-34 titled “Do Not Worry”, was especially encouraging and teaching to me today because I lost my check in luggage during transit yesterday and found myself without a lot of my clothes and supplies for this trip. Luckily I have all of my basic essentials in my carry on bag but being without a lot of my other clothes and resources puts me in an uncomfortable spot. Losing my luggage while travelling overseas caused me to worry a little bit but I am reminded of God’s faithfulness to me. When Jesus says not to worry about these things and that I need to seek Him first, I can believe Him.
Experiencing Jesus’ teachings in this passage first hand has been challenging and uncomfortable but I am thankful and blessed for this lesson in action. Jesus reminded me that I need only a few things and A LOT of Him.
