An introduction may be in order…

Hello friends!

My name is Elizabeth Englund, and as part of the team of students from Elevate, New Heights’ college ministry, I am so blessed to have been partnered with such amazing individuals! I have had the privilege of traveling to Slovakia on the team twice before, and each year brings new challenges as well as huge blessings! I am not joking when I say that our team from Elevate is truly wonderful, each and every person. We are truly blessed!

This past weekend our college team had the privilege of teaming up with the Impact Indonesia group for what we call ‘training camp’. While I cannot divulge specifics of the kinds of things we did, I can honestly say that I have never experienced so many wonderful, supernatural, Christ-filled, things with such Christ-centered, love-filled people! It is an experience I will never forget because of the ways in which I saw God at work in and through us.

As I’m writing this, I am reminded of a passage in the book that we are reading as a team called “Love Beyond Reason” by John Ortberg. Only one chapter into it, I am loving this book for its insight, explanations, and illustrations of what God’s love for us is like, and how, in turn, we should love His people. Ortberg defines love in three main ways, one of them being that “Love delights in and enjoys the one who is loved.” In this section, he points to the scripture in Exodus when the Lord appears to Moses in the burning bush and tells him that his brother is on his way to meet him. He says, “Even now he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you his heart will be glad.” Ortberg tells us that “when you see someone you love, it makes your heart glad.” As I was reading this part of the book, I immediately thought of my teammates and our new-found love and care for each other. (Also, when I speak of my ‘teammates’ I refer not only to my peers on the Elevate-Slovakia team, but also to my peers on the Impact Indonesia team because we see ourselves all as part of the Global Outreach team, simply going to two different places) All this to say, I can truly tell you that my heart is glad when I see any one of these wonderful people because God has given me such a love for each of them that cannot be denied! Praise the Lord! I am so excited to see and experience all that the Lord has in store for us in our preparation for our trips, while we serve, and in the weeks, months, and years following these incredible times!

With much love,

Elizabeth
