Down to the wire

We’re in our last five hours here at camp and still have a LOT to do today. I don’t have time to write too much right now with everything, but wanted to give a quick update. Last night we held our second annual talent show which consisted mostly of impromptu acts and the Elevate team completely humiliating themselves (but in a good way!) We sang very random songs as a group, and even tried our hand at a few slovak children’s tunes. There was definitely a lot of laughter last night, followed by a big bonfire and a sausage roast.

This year’s camp has been filled with so many miracles I could write a book on just one of the many stories we’re leaving with. Needless to say, while our goal here was to impact the students at the camp, the effects of our work here are spreading far far beyond just them. Language barriers have been almost nonexistent, even while interacting with people who speak no English. It’s been truly amazing to see how our joy and love for the people of Slovakia has helped us to connect with all these people.

There is still much to do, but our time here has been priceless and the experience has had an unspeakable impact on myself as well as the rest of the team. I cannot wait to see how the rest of the day will progress….and truly hope that the goodbyes we say later this afternoon will only be “until next time” as we all hold the hope that we’ll see each one of these people again.
