It is Monday evening here in Martin, Slovakia, and I can hardly believe we left Vancouver last Wednesday!!! So much has happened since then. We had smooth flights and connections with no one’s luggage lost, lovely pensions in which to stay and most recently, we were able to join our Slovak hosts in celebrating not only a national holiday(1150 yr anniversary of Christianity brought to Slovakia!!!), but also the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Bible school. This last event peaked with an outdoor worship service and huge bbq with native music and dancing afterwards. It was at the conclusion of this joyous day that we were finally able to move into our permanent dorm rooms for the remainder of our stay – – -YAY!!!
Today was the first day to meet our students, after testing them and placing them in their appropriate classes. As was the case for me my previous two visits here, they are delightful people who are eager to learn and are very appreciative of the smallest help with the language. I look forward to getting to know them better with each passing day. It is a pleasure to put them at ease as this process unfolds, second only to spending time working, eating and living with my teammates. More later and photos to come as I figure out how to upload them to the gallery!
