Good evening my friends from America,
Wow, has it already been seven days? That just amazes me. We arrived in Martin Slovakia, Saturday afternoon. As I stepped off that bus I was exhausted and tired but a rush of adrenaline ran through me. Knowing and not knowing what God was going to do here. Knowing in the sense that i knew what we came here to do. Teach English. Not knowing that God was going to place specific students at my table in the Intermediate class. And challenge me to broaden my imagination and make me use my brain a little bit… =] These students are so eager to learn English and to want to know about America. A few mornings ago i went to get a Latte at the coffee shop down the street, and the girl working asked me if I was with the English Course. I responded Yes a little surprised she knew English well, and then she asked me Why are we here in Slovakia? Its boring and there is nothing to do here, she didn’t understand. My prayer is to go in again one of these mornings and hope she is working. What a great opportunity it would be to share my faith.
It has been such a great and fun time re-connecting with the students and my friends I made last summer with again. They have such big smiles and friendly words. During a couple of the lunches we have had i went out for Ice Cream with Claudia a girl I met, that went to the Be Cool Stay Cool camp last summer, it was so cool just walking around Martin Square, having a conversation getting to know each other on a deeper level.
I am in the Intermediate classroom and have a table of three girls and one boy. They have been such a joy teaching English too. They are very bright and have formed a bond in just the 5 days we’ve been in there. I can’t wait for Monday to come around. They always have big smiles when i see them in the morning. Giving me hugs when they leave for the day.
Thank you all for your prayers they are so greatly appreciated. We could not have made the progressed we made without you and Gods eyes watching over us. The Elevate team leaves Sunday for their camp, please be sending them prayers for wisdom, guidance and strength and even patience and unity. For the English teachers and everyone else to be reminded daily we are here to serve and not be served. That every day someone is watching us. And wondering why we respond and react and talk with love to each other the way we do. And that we seize the opportunities that God gives us when they do open to share our faith and who He is.
Thank you again for your encouragement and love and support,
Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand
