Yikes! Is it really that time for our high school camp here in Slovakia already? It seems like we just got here! Oh wait, we did…
As many of you know (and are praying about), our high school youth camp, formerly known as Be Cool Stay Cool, starts tomorrow morning when we head out at 9am with a busload of 12-18 year-olds! In the past, this camp has taken place during the second week of our stay here so that we had time to plan and meet with our Slovak co-leaders, however this year it’s during our first week here. This can easily cause a lot of discomfort and nerves about what’s going to happen, how much we haven’t been able to plan, and not really knowing what’s going on all the time, but I am so excited to say that our team is fabulous and we’re all just rolling with the punches! For anyone who is a planner by nature like me, not being able to have a plan to adhere to can be really uncomfortable. However, God has been doing a crazy thing in my heart over the last 6 months to a year, and He’s enabling me to simply relax, move along, and be wonderfully okay without being in control. It’s one of the hardest and best lessons to learn, and I’m thankful to be seeing this quality in myself so early in my life.
There are so many things to be thankful for here, certainly not the least of which are the wonderful friends we’ve made here over the years. They are truly wonderful and beautiful people.
Anyway, I’m super tired and about to drop dead from exhaustion/jet lag and we’ve got a full week ahead of us, so I must go after such a short note. Prayers would be much appreciated for energy, boldness to speak with our Slovak students, and the strength to lean on the Lord and give our big and little problems to Him so we can really be effective for Him this week.
Love you and thank you all,
