This has been a time I shall never forget. Yesterday was a long day. After class we hopped on a bus to visit our friends at the “GO” camp. I can’t imagine how hard their week has been, as they have been going non-stop. The trip there took longer than was announced, to the fault of none. It was not a very easy trip, bumpy roads, traffic etc.
Taking a step back a moment as I reflect on this past week. I have been experiencing some challenges, but know that God will pull me through. This morning during breakfast, I realized I lost sight of the purpose for this trip. It is more than teaching; that is the mission. The purpose is to show God’s love through my life and actions. I can’t say that I have done very well at this.
During my early morning walk, I realized something; The kids that I have met this week make the time here worth the entire trip. The purpose is not only to show God’s love, but to experience it as well. I am an imperfect man in an imperfect world; a broken world. This experience is showing me that, in spite of it all, God is the center of it all and I should seek to keep God at the center of my life, my marriage, and my relationships.
I am blessed to be on this trip. I am blessed to be experiencing the love God has to offer. And most of all, I am blessed to be simply, irrevocably, unconditionally loved by the Lord my God.
“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.”
